We consider ourselves to be overly attached to our technology nowadays, but in fact we've always been excited about our gadgets. After all, who doesn't love something that makes their life easier (or at least says it will?). Here's some of the best gadgets that we couldn't live without in years past. Here is a quick infographic by UK Writings.
1975: Casio Calculator Watch: Younger readers may scoff, but we didn't always have a calculator at arm's reach. This watch was the first time you could get the answer to any difficult sum at a moment's notice.
1979: Sony Walkman: This was the first time you could ever walk down the street listening to your own tunes. Bet you didn't know the technology was this old, did you?
1986: Motorola Bravo Pager: Before the mobile phone, there was the pager. Call a special number, leave a message, and you'd receive a message on your pager in a super futuristic digital display! Anyone using one felt like a super secret agent.
1989: Nintendo Game Boy: Before the Game Boy, if you wanted to play video games you had to go to an arcade or play them at home on the family TV. This was the first time you could take classic games like Tetris with you on the go. Nintendo are still the king of portable gaming today.
2000: Nokia 3310: There was a time in history when Nokia were the champions in the mobile phone market. The 3310 was a landmark phone, letting you compose custom ringtones and featuring possibly the first mobile phone game, Snake.
2007: Amazon Kindle: The first iteration of the Kindle was a game changer for book sellers everywhere. Those who called eBooks a fad are bound to be eating their words right now.
All technology is fleeting, but imagine all the cool stuff we're bound to get in the future. Who knows what we'll get?
